Check back often. As mentioned, this will be the most challenging part of the site to create and I'm open to suggestions.
I WILL post some interesting concepts here to help others learn the game better.
I've been in and out of tournament play since High School, which spans a lot of time but really, I got back into tournament play in 1992 in Florida.
Good or bad fortune, my first 20 games got me rated C class. With openings that I know I can draw against or beat Expert rated players so this probably favored me.
My most recent placement was in 3rd Place in the Cincinnati Eden Park tournament in 2006. Just freshly back to Ohio and out of tournament play for several years, I drew against a well-known area Expert and collected a whole 50 bucks I wasn't counting on. Plus, a 5.00 bounty on the Expert player. Rahm Dade paired me against him with 10.00 for a win so the draw gave me 5.00. Rahm felt I could find a way to beat the man's perfect score. He was halfway right.
Most Friday night's, the Fellowship of the King meets not far from where I live at Panera Bread, Easton Mall in Columbus. Times are from 6:30PM until the management makes us leave. All ages, all speeds of games are available. It's a lighthearted very fun atmosphere. Often enough, there are speed chess, game 20 or game 30 tournaments happening there also. I don't make these near as often as I should.
Come hang at Easton for a good game of chess on Friday's. Perhaps we'll meet over the board.
